PIA/GATF Installs 2007 Officers
The officers of Printing Industries of America, Inc./Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) for the next year were installed in office November 12, 2006 at PIA/GATF’s Fall Administrative meetings. The ceremony took place f ollowing the nomination and election of the officers slate by the Board of Directors.
In his address following his installation, DeLana called the affiliates “the backbone of the organization.” He noted that while many organizations face a number of challenges, he expressed confidence in the expertise, creativity and desire of PIA/GATF to continue to succeed.
KBA Genius 52UV Wins GATF Award 2006
Following last year’s award for the Rapida 205 VLF press, KBA has now received the prestigious 2006 InterTech Technology Award from Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) for its Genius 52UV sheetfed offset press, one of 11 nominations out of 35 entries. The award will be presented at the 2006 PIA/GATF Fall Administrative Meeting, November 9 -12 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“We are very proud to receive the highly-acclaimed PIA/GATF InterTech Award for the Genius 52UV – the only offset press to gain such a distinction this year,” says Ralf Sammeck, president and CEO of KBA North America’s sheetfed division in Williston, Vermont. “Since its introduction in September 2005 at the Print trade fair in Chicago, sales have been booming. Last year, our Rapida 205 81-inch sheetfed press, the largest in the world, won the InterTech award. We believe that being a two-year back-to-back recipient shows the industry that KBA is a leader in the technological field of printing and that we keep introducing new innovative equipment.”
PIA/GATF’s Digital Printing Council Announces Set of Marketing 4 Digital Research
PIA/GATF’s Digital Printing Council (DPC) announces the availability of the latest set of reports from its groundbreaking Marketing 4 Digital (M4D) research project. This latest set of reports is the second in the M4D series to be published in 2006, giving digital and conventional printers the information and insight they need to sell their services to 24 specific vertical market segments.
“M4D research is one of the crown jewels of DPC and PIA/GATF programs. The ambitious project was a major and much needed undertaking. Thanks to the dedicated and hard work of the graduate students from RIT and CalPoly, under the direction of Frank Romano, M4D is providing significant applicable information to help printers to succeed,” says PIA/GATF President, Michael Makin.
