DesignJet Large-Format Printer to Get Ripp’ed
March 11, 2007- Hewlett-Packard has announced the Designjet Z3100ps GP, which adds a PostScript RIP to the large format photo printer, enabling designers to output vector artwork, graphics and text for clients or proofing.
The HP Designjet Z3100ps GP features 12 inks and HP’s DreamColor technology, a certified system of color technologies and sciences that the company says make it easy to produce accurate, predictable and consistent color across a series of digital color devices. The new easy-to-use embedded Adobe PS3/PDF RIP eliminates the need to dedicate a specific computer just for the RIP software and compressing files.
The estimated street price for the HP Designjet Z3100ps GP is $6710 for the 24-inch model and $10,500 for the 44-inch model. Both models as well as the HP ProPrint Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop are expected to be available April 23, 2007.
“Disjointed workflows and tedious color management have long been pain-points for many in the creative market,” says Enrique Lores, vice president and general manager, Inkjet Commercial Division, HP. “Since the introduction of the HP Designjet Z Photo Printer Series in the autumn 2006, HP has demonstrated its commitment to simplifying the workflow for creative professionals by offering enabling innovations like the embedded spectrophotometer.”
The built-in spectrophotometer powered by X-Rite i1 Color Technology is designed to simplify accurate color-matching, enabling automated ICC profiling so users can create custom color profiles in minutes and expect exact color matches throughout the printing process.
Creative professionals can produce accurate colors on the first attempt with the free HP ProPrint plug-in for Photoshop. This plug-In is compatible with all HP Designjet Z Photo Printers and has been developed for Photoshop CS2. It automatically synchronizes application and driver settings with significantly simplified user interface so printing is fast and easy, saving time and increasing productivity.
