Heidelberg Print Media Academy Rapid Response to Pressroom Problems with the Latest Issue of “Profi Tip”

The latest issue of “Profi Tip” is out now. With tips by professionals for professionals, the Heidelberg Print Media Academy makes it quick and easy for print shops to diagnose and rectify printing problems. The tips also help prevent potential problems before they occur.

In the pressroom, many different factors besides the press itself affect the quality of the print product. These include printing materials, inks and external influences such as water hardness. Even tiny deviations, for example in the ink/dampening solution balance or the room temperature, can significantly disrupt workflows. And this is where the guide’s tips come in. Succinctly formulated and clearly structured, the guide presents all kinds of problems with concrete examples and then proposes solutions using checklists and apt illustrations. “Our Profi Tips are easy to understand and taken from everyday printing practice. Their practical nature makes them so useful that in some countries they are even used as a mini-guide to printing,” states Bernd Schopp, Head of the Heidelberg Print Media Academy.

The latest issue “Problem Cases in the Pressroom”, for example, covers topics such as correct dot size, picking, emulsification, mottling, graying, slur and slow drying. Technical terms are explained clearly so that even printers with limited experience can easily understand the steps that need to be taken. The Profi Tip guides are available free of charge from the Print Media Academy. An issue entitled “Dampening Solutions in Offset Printing” has already been published.

In addition to Profi Tip, the Print Media Academy also produces a range of other publications. The “X.Media.Management” series of books for executives in the print and media industry offers knowledge on topics in the changing media technology landscape. The interactive educational software “World of Print Media” provides extensive information on the prepress, press and postpress processes.
