Prestigious InterTech™ Technology Award Awarded to C&P Microsystems
C&P Microsystems, a leading developer of paper cutter operating systems, has won a 2006 PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Award for the development of its innovative MICROCIP software. This technology allows for simplified operations of virtually any paper cutter in use today by offering the ability to provide CIP 3 / 4 capability either as a retrofit system or as an integrated OEM package. Presented annually for the past 28 years by The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), the prestigious InterTech Award recognizes outstanding achievements in technology in the graphic arts industry.
“We’re thrilled and very proud to be selected to receive an InterTech Technology Award,” said Jeff Marr, President of C&P Microsystems. “We always endeavor to provide innovations like the MICROCIP software that will deliver significant benefits to our customers. That we’ve been chosen for this honor is a real validation of that goal and of the work of our engineers.”The C&P Microsystems MICROCIP software, which the company developed in 2005, allows the importation and conversion of standardized CIP3/4 files into cutting programs for almost every paper cutter in existence. Users can integrate the software into their company’s existing network, allowing for easy transfer of CIP files and automatic entry of basic programming data. Because of its automatic programming features and easy-to-use graphic interfaces, the software also eliminates errors and reduces set-up time for cutting jobs by at least fifty percent. The MICROCIP software comes standard as part of C&P Microsystems’ operating systems for certain new paper cutters, or — as perhaps the software’s greatest innovation — the company can install it as an upgrade for older machines.
C&P Microsystems will feature this technology at the Graph Expo in Chicago, IL October 15 - 18. Show attendees will be able to view the MICROCIP system on both OEM and retrofit systems.
The PIA/GATF instituted the InterTech Technology Award in 1978 to honor innovative excellence and to promote an understanding of advanced technology in the graphic arts. Technology nominated for the award must have been recently developed, proven in an industrial application, but not yet in widespread use. In essence, the award stands as a prediction that the recipient’s technology will have a major impact on industry production and profitability; of the prior award recipients, 80 percent have proven commercially successful in the marketplace.
